1. Dreamworld
If you have little ones with you, Dreamworld is one of the top theme parks in the area, with a unique Australian flavour. With rollercoasters and live shows on offer, there are also animal experiences with some of your favourite Aussie animals, such as dingos and tree kangaroos. Meanwhile, the Sunset Safari is a wonderful way to see some big cats.
Oh, and don’t worry; if you’ve got some tiny tots with you, Wiggles World is a firm favourite among the toddler crowd!
2. SkyPoint
This is the tallest residential building in Australia and is the perfect way to enjoy panoramic views of the Gold Coast. There are two options for viewing, with the SkyPoint Observation Deck giving you the full panorama of the Gold Coast. If you’re up for it, head on up to the SkyPoint Climb – yes, you can actually climb up to the 270-metre high platform! It overlooks the city and gives you an incredible experience as well as breathtaking views.
Or, you can just sit in the cafe and wander around the exhibits to learn more. You can live the high life at SkyPoint at any time of day!
3. Coolangatta Beach
Coolangatta Beach is one of the more low-key choices for hitting one of the many beautiful Gold Coast beaches. With soft sands and calmer waters than you might expect, this beach is a great choice for those looking for a day out with children. There is a whole host of shops and places to eat just across from the glittering sands and a waterfront park. You can take a break from relaxing on the beach to enjoy some whale and dolphin watching – if you’re lucky!
4. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary is an ideal spot for taking the family. It is owned by the National Trust of Queensland and is wonderful for animal lovers. With hosts of stunning birds to see, as well as an Adventure High Ropes Course, it’s an amazing day out for every age group.
While you’re enjoying Segway tours or taking the toddler train, don’t forget to hang out with the koalas and kangaroos who populate the sanctuary. You can even see a crocodile!
5. South Stradbroke Island
“South Straddie” is another more peaceful spot slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast. You can still enjoy incredible activities such as swimming, surfing, or sea kayaking, and you can even stay overnight on one of the island’s campsites. Not only that, but the island is replete with wildlife, such as wallabies, lizards, snakes, and even adorable sugar-gliders.
Whether you want to enjoy fishing, hiking, or just take a day to stretch out on the beach, South Stradbroke Island is a must-visit.
